Modified Variable Step-Size Incremental Conductance MPPT Technique for Photovoltaic Systems

A highly efficient photovoltaic (PV) system requires a maximum power point tracker to extract peak from PV modules. The conventional variable step-size incremental conductance (INC) tracking (MPPT) technique has two main drawbacks. First, it uses pre-set scaling factor, which manual tuning under different irradiance levels. Second, adapts the slope of characteristics curve vary step-size, means any small changes in module voltage will significantly increase overall step-size. Subsequently, deviates operating away actual reference. In this paper, new modified INC algorithm is proposed address aforementioned problems. consists parts, namely autonomous factor and angle variation algorithm. continuously adjusts without using constant control trade-off between convergence speed precision. mitigates impact change, especially during conditions improve MPPT efficiency. theoretical investigations are carried out while its practicability confirmed by simulation experimental results.
